Job summary

Mercor seeks a native Japanese speaker for meticulous document annotation work. You will identify and bound meaningful regions on pages, assign types and reading order, and ensure precise transcription including kanji, kana, furigana, and handwritten text.

You will verify content, maintain strict quality, and participate in a peer-review process to ensure accuracy across diverse, real-world documents.

Qualifications

• Native Japanese speaker with full command of kanji, hiragana and katakana.
• Experience in interpretation, transcription, translation, editorial work, or comparable document-intensive work.
• Character-level accuracy is essential; a single incorrect character is a defect.

Responsibilities

• Open and check tasks to ensure pages are in Japanese and legible.
• Annotate structure by bounding regions and assigning types and reading-order indexes.
• Record relationships between regions and parent figures/t tables.
• Transcribe text exactly as it appears, including furigana and handwritten content.
• Capture page metadata and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting.
• Review colleague work as part of a two-expert review process.
