We are looking for an experienced software leader to head the software development organization behind our electric floor heating product portfolio. This role combines people leadership, technical understanding and strategic direction across embedded, cloud, mobile app and UI/UX development.

OJ Electronics – a Danish producer of HVAC drives, AHU controllers, and thermostats for electric floor heating – is looking for an R&D Software Manager to join our R&D management team in Sønderborg, Denmark.

You will shape the direction and daily rhythm of a software function that plays a central part in OJ’s connected electric floor heating solutions. The position calls for a leader who can set priorities, create clarity, support technical decision-making and build the conditions for people and partners to deliver high-quality software together.

You will join an R&D environment where software is closely linked to the overall product experience – from the intelligence inside the product to the digital interfaces used by customers. You will bring direction, structure and follow-through to a broad software area with many interfaces across the organization.

Your role

As R&D Software Manager, you will set the framework for how the team works, collaborates and develops its technical capabilities. You will balance people leadership with a solid understanding of software development and play an active role in translating business and product priorities into clear direction for the team.

Your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the embedded, cloud, mobile app and UI/UX software organization
  • Creating a safe, motivating and high-performing framework where people can grow, contribute and perform at their best
  • Developing team competencies and supporting both experienced and newer team members
  • Managing collaboration with external development partners
  • Contributing to software development strategy, including efficient toolchains, processes and responsible use of AI-supported development
  • Supporting software teams in daily technical challenges across embedded, cloud and mobile app development
  • Driving resource allocation, follow-up and priorities together with Product Owners and other stakeholders
  • Collaborating closely with hardware, quality, system software and application software teams to secure strong integration across disciplines
  • Taking part in the R&D management team and contributing to overall R&D priorities and strategic initiatives.

  • Experience with embedded systems such as C/C++, microcontrollers, RTOS or bare-metal development
  • Experience with cloud and mobile app development, for example C# .NET, Xamarin/.NET MAUI or similar technologies
  • Experience with version control workflows and CI/CD pipelines, for example Git/Git Flow, GitLab, Azure DevOps or similar
  • Experience working with agile or Scrum-based development practices
  • Strong communication skills in English and Danish, written and spoken.
Nice-to-have qualifications
  • Familiarity with structured release processes
  • Strong toolchain knowledge and interest in improving software development efficiency
  • Interest in AI-supported development and the ability to use AI tools responsibly in line with engineering standards
  • Experience working with external development partners
  • A leadership style that combines technical understanding, empathy, listening and the ability to cut through when needed.
