Job summary

Aarhus University’s Department of Food Science invites an Academic employee to lead high-resolution MS-based proteomics work and support metabolic analysis. You will operate Bruker instruments, maintain the mass spectrometry network, and apply bioinformatics tools to complex datasets in a dynamic research environment.

The role emphasizes data interpretation, collaboration with students and staff, and contribution to teaching in food chemistry.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, food science, analytical chemistry or similar.
• A PhD degree is considered a plus.
• Solid understanding of protein chemistry, analytical chemistry, MS-omics techniques and bioinformatics.
• Strong background in mass spectrometry instrumentation, software for instrument control and data.
• Good technical understanding of mass spectrometry; ion-mobility with MS is a plus.
• Hands-on experience in running, maintenance and troubleshooting of high-resolution mass spectrometry and HPLC; preference for TimsToF-HT.
• Solid data analysis experience e.g. PEAKS Studio, FragPipe and/or Perseus.
• Familiarity with Bruker software package and advanced experiments is a plus.
• Experience in quantitative proteomics and validation of analytical MS methods is a plus.
• Experience in nutrition is considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Run samples for the Department on Tims HT and TimsMetabo (Bruker).
• Maintenance and management of Tims HT & TimsMetabo mass spectrometers.
• Maintain bioinformatic tools related to proteomics and metabolomics.
• Perform data analysis and interpretation.
• Assist users and students in sample preparation for MS-analysis.
• Assist students and Postdocs in data analysis and interpretation.
• Help with bioinformatics.
• Participate in teaching of relevant laboratory courses in food chemistry.
• Deliver on duties related to the Department of Food Science.
