Job summary

Aarhus University’s Department of Food Science seeks an Academic employee specializing in LC-MS proteomics to support a core facility. The role includes running high-resolution proteomics on TIMS HT/Metabo, instrument maintenance and bioinformatics support across the department.

The candidate will contribute to data analysis, assist users and students, and participate in teaching lab courses in food chemistry, while reinforcing the department’s collaborative and open research culture.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, food science, analytical chemistry or similar.
• PhD degree is considered a plus.
• Solid understanding of protein chemistry, analytical chemistry, MS-omics techniques and bioinformatics.
• Strong background in mass spectrometry instrumentation, software for instrument control and data.
• Good technical understanding of mass spectrometry and experience in ion-mobility in combination with MS is considered a plus.
• Hands‑on experience in running, maintenance and troubleshooting of high-resolution mass spectrometry and HPLC equipment, priority will be given to experience with TimsToF-HT.
• Solid data analysis experience e.g. PEAKS Studio, FragPipe and/or Perseus
• it is considered a plus if you are familiar with Bruker software package as well as experience in implementation of advanced experiments
• Hands‑on experience in quantitative proteomics as well as validation of analytical MS methods are considered a plus
• experience in nutrition is considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Operate LC-MS omics techniques central unit.
• Run samples for the department on TIMS HT and TIMS Metabo (Bruker).
• Maintain TIMS HT and TIMS Metabo mass spectrometers.
• Maintain bioinformatic tools related to proteomics and metabolomics.
• Perform data analysis and interpretation.
• Assist users and students in sample preparation for MS-analysis.
• Assist students and Postdocs in data analysis and interpretation.
• Help with bioinformatics.
• Participate in teaching of relevant laboratory courses in food chemistry.
• Deliver on various duties related to the Department of Food Science.
