Job summary

Systematic Aarhus is seeking a Project Manager for QA to drive test strategy and ensure high-quality software across the Defence QA Management programme. You will lead the QA team within a product programme and coordinate test activities with developers and other managers, shaping a roadmap for continuous improvements and quality assurance.

You will collaborate with senior sponsors and colleagues across Aarhus, Copenhagen and Bucharest, fostering a high-performing team and a strong QA mindset

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to navigate complex environments.
  • Structured and analytical approach to planning, execution, and risk management.
  • Solid understanding of software development, testing, and release processes.
  • Experience working in agile development environments.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Define, coordinate and support test activities across project teams to ensure high-quality products.
  • Lead QA planning, reporting and improvements within the product programme.
  • Drive test framework and QA strategies for quality and scalability.
  • Oversee system tests and end-to-end validation.
  • Collaborate with Directors, Managers and Architects to ensure alignment and quality.
  • Manage and develop a team of QA Engineers to build capabilities.

Leveraging your project management expertise and understanding of software QA, you will create alignment, drive progress, and deliver results. Experience leading people is beneficial but not essential.

The job:

drive test strategy, quality improvements and product programme progress

As Project Manager for QA in one of our five product programmes, you will hold the overall QA responsibility for the product programme and lead the QA team within it. Your focus will be to ensure high-quality products by defining, coordinating and supporting test activities across project teams, while working closely with the programme’s other Managers, who lead the Developers. You will lead QA planning, reporting and improvements – creating progress, structure and transparency within the programme. At the same time, you will drive QA initiatives and implement improvements, shaping the direction for quality assurance. You will also people manage a team of QA Engineers – developing their skills, ensuring the right competencies and fostering a motivated, high-performing team.

In addition, you will be part of the QA Programme’s management team, contributing to strategic decisions and helping to guide the programme toward success.

In short, you can look forward to:

  • driving and developing the test framework and QA strategies to ensure product quality and scalability
  • overseeing the planning and execution of system tests to validate end-to-end functionality
  • creating a clear roadmap for continuous test improvements in close collaboration with our QA Programme team
  • working closely with key stakeholders including the Directors, Managers and Architects to ensure alignment and quality throughout the development and delivery process
  • leading and growing a dedicated testing team – fostering motivation, building capabilities and supporting professional development

You should expect up to 5–10 travel days a year visiting colleagues at our office in Bucharest.

You will report directly to the Senior Manager for Defence QA Management and become part of a product programme with development teams across Aarhus, Copenhagen and Bucharest, working together to bring direction and structure to QA activities. You will play a key part in ensuring high-quality outcomes through strong collaboration.

By joining Defence QA Management, you will also enter a unique community of more than 40 QA Engineers and Test Managers – a strong network where you can share knowledge, learn from experienced colleagues and grow your expertise.

You bring:

strong project management experience combined with software QA expertise

To succeed in this role, you bring a proven track record in project management, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, ensure progress, and deliver outcomes in a structured and collaborative way. Ideally, this is complemented by experience within software quality assurance or test management, providing you with insight into quality practices and software development processes. Previous people leadership experience is a plus, but not a requirement.

We are also looking for:
  • a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical or scientific discipline
  • strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to navigate complex organisational environments
  • a structured and analytical approach to planning, execution, and risk management
  • a solid understanding of software development, testing, and release processes
  • experience working in agile development environments
  • excellent communication skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken
