Job summary

Spencer Marshall is seeking an experienced Project Manager MEP to provide on-site, in-house oversight for a portfolio of technical, laboratory and building-infrastructure projects at a Danish client campus.

The role leads from conception to commissioning, owning scope, permits, budget, programme, safety and quality across multiple concurrent projects while coordinating with client representatives, the IFM provider, landlords and authorities.

Qualifications

• BSc/ MSc in Engineering or Architecture required.
• PMP, PRINCE2 or IPMA certification preferred.
• Danish language proficiency strongly preferred; professional English required.
• Experience delivering projects in the Danish market with building and fire approvals (AB18/ABT18).
• Laboratory/technical environment project experience advantageous.

• Appoint and manage architects, engineering consultants and specialists; drive design development through stages.
• Review technical documentation and drive comments to closure.
• Survey and verify existing infrastructure capacity for future planning.
• Manage testing, commissioning and handover including defect close-out and training.
• Own the Danish permitting process end to end with authority approvals and connections.
• Administer AB18/ABT18/ABR18 contracts and manage local consultants and contractors.
• Protect live operations with permit-to-work, risk assessments and business continuity planning.

Our client supports organisations around the world to develop, implement and manage their Integrated Facilities and Workplace Management strategies.

Our client is recruiting for a Project Manager ,who would provide onsite, in-house project management for a portfolio of technical, laboratory and building-infrastructure projects at a client campus in Denmark.

The Project Manager is the single accountable owner for scope, permits, budget, programme, safety and quality across a concurrent multi-project portfolio, and is the day-to-day interface with client representatives onsite, the IFM provider, the landlord, Danish authorities, and the consultant and contractor supply chain.

The portfolio comprises small to mid-value capital projects across a multi-building research campus, including new and expanded laboratory spaces and specialist technical rooms, installation and relocation of sensitive research equipment, cryogenic and industrial gas infrastructure, central plant and process cooling capacity, building systems and BMS upgrades, infrastructure capacity surveys and as-built verification, and operational, access and safety improvements in live technical environments.

Key responsibilities

• Appoint and manage architects, engineering consultants and specialist designers; run design development through concept, schematic, detailed design, tender and IFC stages
• Review and challenge technical documentation – drawings, specifications, load and capacity calculations, single-line diagrams, equipment schedules and controls narratives – and drive comments to closure
• Survey and verify existing infrastructure capacity, so future projects are planned against accurate information
• Manage testing, commissioning and handover, including documentation, training and close-out of defects
• Own the Danish municipal permitting process end to end – fire authority approval and utility connections – with realistic programme allowance and active, continuous pursuit; permitting is routinely the largest single programme risk on this portfolio
• Administer Danish standard forms of contract (AB18 / ABT18 / ABR18), including notices, extensions of time and variation procedure, and manage the local consultant and contractor market
• Protect live operations throughout – permit-to-work, method statements, risk assessments, shutdown and tie-in planning, and business continuity for occupied research space
• Adhere to corporate, building and client policies; maintain high qualitative and quantitative standards of work and keep technical knowledge current

Skills

• B.Sc./M.Sc. in Engineering or Architecture, or equivalent Danish qualification
• PMP, PRINCE2 or IPMA certification preferred; arbejdsmiljøkoordinator (P/B) or equivalent safety qualification preferred
• Previous experience within an engineering/construction project accountability role, including direct ownership of budget and programme
• Experience of delivering projects in the Danish market, with a proven track record obtaining building and fire approvals through a Danish kommune and working under AB18/ABT18;
• Danish language proficiency strongly preferred, professional English required
• Demonstrated laboratory project experience – research, cleanroom, optics, cryogenic or equivalent technical environments – covering equipment installation, utility provision and commissioning
