Job description

Job Description

Vipps MobilePay is part of everyday life in the Nordics, with more than 12 million users across the region. Our products are not tucked away in a quiet corner of someone’s workday. They show up in everyday, real-life moments: splitting a restaurant bill, shopping online, buying a bus ticket, or showing someone you trust that money's on the way.

When something is used this widely, there is no room for mediocre experiences. People notice. We need to make payments feel simple, safe, fast, and reliable, every single time.

Now, we are looking for an independent and pragmatic Product Designer to join our Aarhus-based user-facing product team. Maybe you are the one.

Sounds pretty good... but what will I be doing?

You will take design ownership of product experiences used by millions. You won't just decide how screens look; you will help identify the right problems to solve across our user-facing products. Your focus may change over time, from payments and onboarding to identity, trust, everyday money movement or new services, based on your strengths and our priorities.

Your day-to-day will focus on:
  • Mapping complex journeys: Turn ambiguous product opportunities into clear, simple flows, prototypes and experiments.
  • Collaborating from day one: Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers and Data Analysts. You will make trade-offs together, prototype in fast loops, then ship, learn and improve.
  • Understanding users and outcomes: Use research, data and customer insight to understand the problem, define what success looks like and learn from what we ship.
  • Using new tools to learn faster: Use AI, automation or code-assisted prototyping when it helps you explore ideas, test assumptions or improve the final experience.
  • Designing at scale: Every detail matters when millions of users interact with your designs. You will use systems thinking and strong product judgement to balance speed, trust and usability.
  • Seeing the bigger picture: Connect user needs to product and company goals. You will make thoughtful commercial and strategic trade-offs while keeping the user experience at the centre.
Who will I be working with?

Your base will be our Aarhus office, where you will work closely with the local product team. You will also join a vibrant, highly talented Nordic design community, working alongside:

  • Passionate Software Engineers who love to build and test ideas quickly.
  • Product Managers who care about solving real user problems and moving metrics.
  • Design colleagues who share ideas, workflows, and a mutual obsession with simplicity.

You will travel to Oslo regularly, including our quarterly design days, as well as other in‑person collaboration when it helps the team work well together.

What do you get when working with us?

World-class colleagues: Friendly, smart, and highly collaborative teams.

Vast impact: Your designs will be used by your friends, family, and millions of others daily.

An innovative playground: Space to experiment with AI, design engineering, and modern workflows.

A Nordic design community: An Aarhus base with regular time together across our locations.

Great balance: We work smart, move fast, but keep well-being and life outside work in focus.

Skills & Requirements
Who Are We Looking For?

You will thrive with us if you:

  • Are highly independent: You don’t need a perfectly defined, hand-held brief. You can navigate uncertainty, bring visual clarity to a messy problem and keep momentum going.
  • Are pragmatic: You design for the real world, understand engineering constraints and enjoy working through platform, component, API and implementation trade-offs together with engineers.
  • Have strong interaction design craft: You think in systems, anticipate edge cases, handle error flows beautifully and make complex journeys feel natural and safe.
  • Bring business-mindful product judgement: You care deeply about users and understand how design choices connect to product and company goals. You can explain trade-offs clearly and help the team make good decisions.
  • Are curious about new tools: You have tried AI, automation or code-assisted prototyping, or you are motivated to build that capability. You can explain what you learned and judge when the output is useful, or not good enough.
  • Have a voice: You speak up, challenge decisions constructively with data and insight, and bring your team with you.
  • Can work from Aarhus and travel to Oslo: You value close collaboration with the team in Aarhus and can join regular in-person time in Oslo.

Bonus points if you have experience with high-scale consumer apps, fintech, payments, digital accessibility, or rapid prototyping with code!
