Aalborg University invites applications for a Postdoc in sodium-ion battery state estimation at AAU Energy, Aalborg campus. The appointment runs for 20 months from 1 November 2026.

The position is based in the Batteries research group within Mechatronic Systems and involves independent and collaborative work in Denmark and abroad. You will develop battery state estimation methods, work with BMS development for sodium-ion cells, perform cell testing, and publish in international journals.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Electrochemistry or a closely related field or equivalent qualifications.
  • Research focus on battery state estimation with experience in battery models and algorithms (OCV, Kalman filtering, data-driven methods).
  • Experience with lithium-ion or sodium-ion technologies, Matlab/Simulink, experimental lab work and data analysis.
  • Experience with industrial collaboration and publication in international journals is an advantage.
  • English communication skills, and openness to Danish language courses.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research within battery state estimation focusing on sodium-ion technology.
  • Develop and test state estimation algorithms and BMS concepts for sodium-ion cells.
  • Collaborate with partners and publish results in high-quality journals.
  • Assist with project work, teaching or supervision where needed.
