Job summary

A 2-year post-doctoral position in evolutionary genomics and bioinformatics is available at Aarhus University, Denmark. The role focuses on whole-genome analyses of insects and spiders, including historical specimens, de novo assembly, and population-genomic analyses.

The candidate will develop computational workflows, work across multiple stages of genomic analysis, and collaborate with a vibrant genetics and ecology group at the Centre for Ecological Genetics.

Qualifications

  • PhD and strong theoretical/practical background in evolutionary genomics and population genetics.
  • Hands-on experience with bioinformatic analysis of whole-genome sequencing data including QC, variant discovery and downstream analyses.
  • Proficiency with command-line interfaces, scripting, HPC, and reproducible pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct bioinformatic analyses of whole-genome sequencing and resequencing data from non-model arthropods.
  • Process and analyze historical museum specimens with variable DNA quality.
  • Develop, adapt and troubleshoot computational workflows for diverse datasets.
  • Collaborate with students, postdocs and faculty within the group and Centre for Ecological Genetics.
