Job summary

DTU – Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the Energy Markets and Finance section within DTU Management. The successful candidate will explore decision-support methodologies for operation and flexibility of future energy systems, combining dynamic optimization, energy economics and operations research.

The role focuses on methodological research and applications to electricity markets, sector coupling and low-carbon transition pathways,

Qualifications

  • PhD in operations research, management science, energy economics or related field.
  • Strong background in mathematical optimization and quantitative modelling.
  • Experience with optimization under uncertainty or data-driven decision-support methods.
  • Programming experience in optimization software and scientific programming languages (Julia, Python, MATLAB).
  • Interest in developing methodological research with practical energy system applications.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply advanced optimization methods for decision-making under uncertainty.
  • Apply methods to planning and operation of integrated energy systems and markets.
  • Produce high-impact methodological research and reproducible tools.
