Job summary

LEGO Group’s Play Discovery team within the Creative Play Lab in Billund, Denmark invites aspiring toy inventors to a paid internship. Start date is September 2026 for a 4-month program at our Head Quarters in Billund, Denmark.

You will work alongside a world‑class multidisciplinary team, learning through curiosity and hands-on prototyping with SMART Bricks, LEGO motors and electronics. You will engage in personal curiosity projects, capability-building initiatives and innovation missions,

Qualifications

  • You must be a student for the full duration of the internship.
  • You are due to graduate after 31 December 2026.
  • The internship contributes toward your course credit and is a compulsory part of your education.
  • You must be available 1 September 2026 to 31 December 2026 in Billund, Denmark.

Responsibilities

  • Push the boundaries of play by imagining new universes, creating compelling characters and constructing new prototypes to bring concepts to life.
  • Research innovative technologies, materials and toys to discover new possibilities within physical and digital play.
  • Communicate ideas through sketches, models, digital mockups, 3D prints etc.
  • Create new LEGO elements and be resourceful using the available tools.

Are You an Aspiring Toy Inventor Looking to Discover New Play?

Join the LEGO Group's Play Discovery team within the Creative Play Lab for a Paid Internship at our Head Quarters in Billund, Denmark!

Start date: September 2026

Length: 4 months (until end of December 2026)

We look for interns who bring something genuinely different to our innovation hub, adding fresh cultural insight, creative energy, and new ways of thinking. Your time with us will span personal curiosity projects, team capability‑building initiatives, and innovation Missions. Every day is different and you'll learn directly from a world‑class multidisciplinary team as you build your craft, embracing ambiguity as you discover new play experiences.

Meet the Play Invention Hardware team

We are a capability of Play Discovery, powered by creative technologists who invent, prototype and pioneer play by finding the magic in technology. We sketch ideas using hardware and software together, and prototype with SMART Bricks, LEGO motors, breadboards, electronic components, PCBs and code to explore how things like sensors, motors, lights and sound can be used to create new play experiences. We research, explore and co‑create. We build, make and prototype. We test, demo and play with kids and stakeholders. We work from sketch ideas and true playable hardware all the way to complete play experiences that will extend the longevity of kids' play.

Internship Eligibility:
  • To qualify for this internship opportunity, you must meet all of the following criteria: (1) You will be a student for the full duration of the internship period; (2) You are currently due to graduate after 31st December 2026; (3) You will not be requesting a delayed graduation date to qualify for this internship; (4) This internship will contribute quantitatively towards your course credit and is a compulsory part of your education; (5) You are available to undertake this internship contract starting from 1st September 2026 and ending on 31st December 2026 in Billund, Denmark.
