Job description

Would you like to take architectural ownership of critical platform capabilities that enable software delivery in a complex, regulated environment? In this role, you will shape Terma's Internal Developer Platform, drive strategic technical initiatives, and help create scalable, secure, and sustainable solutions that support our mission-critical products. Come and join us!

We are facing an exciting future with considerable growth and demanding changes. We continue to evolve our advanced technologies and mission critical solutions for the defense and aerospace industry to deliver real-world solutions that matter to the security of people on land, at sea and in the air. Therefore, we are looking for a Platform Architect to become part of this journey and contribute to our overall purpose – securing people through advanced technology.

Your role as part of the team

As our new Platform Architect, you will take ownership of the architecture and long-term evolution of core capabilities within Terma's Internal Developer Platform. You will play a key role in defining technical direction, driving platform-wide standards, and ensuring our on-prem platform remains scalable, secure, and aligned with the needs of our development teams.

You will become part of our DevSecOps/Platform enablement team of eight engineers based in Lystrup. The team is supportive, highly collaborative, and dedicated to continuously improving both technology and ways of working. Working closely with platform engineers, delivery teams, IT, and fellow architects, you will help bridge strategic architectural direction and hands‑on execution while enabling efficient and reliable software development across the organization.

Technical expertise matters, but your mindset matters even more. If you consider yourself a collaborative and proactive architect who enjoys shaping technical direction, solving complex challenges, and building alignment across teams, while balancing long-term strategy with practical execution, then you could be a great addition to our team.

How you will make a meaningful contribution

In this role, you will contribute to a range of tasks across your area of responsibility. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Define and drive the long-term technical direction of core on‑prem platform capabilities, including Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, secrets management, and source code hosting, with a strong focus on cloud-native technologies and practices.
  • Facilitate complex platform migrations and lead major technical initiatives from design through implementation and production, ensuring reliable, secure, and sustainable outcomes.
  • Help further implement and mature the Platform Enablement / DevEx track, strengthening the team's ability to deliver high-value services to internal customers.
  • Define, promote, and facilitate platform-wide engineering standards, architectural principles, and DevSecOps best practices, enhancing developer experience while ensuring security and compliance in a regulated environment.
  • Act as the primary technical authority for platform decisions, balancing developer experience, security, reliability, and organizational needs, while proactively identifying and addressing systemic risks and contributing to platform roadmaps with architects, engineers, IT, and senior stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support team members through architectural guidance, knowledge sharing, code reviews, and technical discussions.
Bring your expertise into play

To thrive in this role, we imagine that you bring some of the following qualifications:

  • Technical Background: A relevant education in Software Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related field, combined with extensive experience in platform engineering, infrastructure architecture, or DevSecOps environments.
  • Platform Architecture & Strategy: Proven experience defining architectural roadmaps, technical standards, and evolving enterprise-scale platforms in complex organizations, particularly within on‑premises, private cloud, or regulated environments.
  • Platform Engineering & Developer Experience: Strong architectural and practical experience with CI/CD platforms, source control management, artifact management, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, observability, secrets management, and security by design. You understand modern software development practices and can design reusable, self‑service platform capabilities that enhance developer productivity and experience.
  • Technology Transformation & Migration: Documented experience designing and driving complex technology and platform migrations, including legacy modernization, toolchain consolidation, and migration of critical platform services.
  • Stakeholder Management & Technical Leadership: Ability to communicate complex technical topics, align stakeholders across organizational boundaries, and drive architectural decisions and technical direction in collaboration with platform engineering, DevSecOps, and software development teams.
Preferred, but not required, experience:
  • A background in application development within large, complex software systems, ideally with experience as a Software Lead or responsibility for software releases, providing a strong understanding of software developers' daily workflows, challenges, and needs.

Most importantly, we believe diverse experiences add value to our team and organization. Therefore, we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all the above requirements.

As we are an international organization, it is important that you are fluent in English both in writing and verbal at a professional level.
