Job summary

GEUS, located in Copenhagen, invites applications for a 3-year PhD position starting January 1, 2027, within the REGLA project. The PhD focuses on meltwater dynamics under the Greenland Ice Sheet, combining remote sensing and data-driven methods to understand ice flow and sediment transport.

You will be jointly supervised by DTU-Space and GEUS colleagues, enrolled at DTU-Space. We seek a Master in geoscience or related fields with interest in Python, machine learning, and remote sensing.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in geoscience or related field.
• Interest in remote sensing, glaciology, and data-driven methods like ML.
• Willingness to develop programming and data-analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate meltwater movement beneath the Greenland Ice Sheet.
• Map subglacial water routes using satellite radar data.
• Apply machine learning to relate meltwater to ice flow and sediment transport.
