Job summary

GEUS Hovedkontor is offering a 3-year PhD fellowship focused on reconstructing past Greenland Ice Sheet melt and ocean variability using marine sediment records. You will develop high-resolution paleoclimate reconstructions with sediment cores from Greenland fjords and integrate proxies, microfossils and biomarkers.

The position bridges observational data with quantitative reconstructions, aligning with PROMICE observations and broader North Atlantic climate dynamics.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in geoscience.
• Interest in Greenland Ice Sheet and North Atlantic climate variability.
• Experience with sediment-core analysis, geochronology, or proxy data is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-resolution reconstructions of Greenland Ice Sheet melt and ocean variability.
• Work with marine sediment cores and proxies to reconstruct past changes.
• Link sediment records with modern observations (PROMICE data).
• Collaborate across disciplines including marine geology, glaciology, oceanography and climate modelling.
