Job summary

GEUS invites applications for a 3-year PhD position in Hydrology and Dynamics of the Greenland Ice Sheet. Based in Copenhagen, this REGLA project role combines remote sensing, machine learning, and glaciology under supervision by Nanna B. Karlsson and collaborators at DTU-Space and GEUS.

Applicants should hold a Master’s in geoscience-related field, with interest in Python and data-driven methods. English is required; Danish lessons may be offered.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in geoscience or related field required or near completion.
• Interest in remote sensing, glaciology, and data-driven methods such as machine learning.
• Programming skills in Python; familiarity with InSAR is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Study how meltwater moves beneath the Greenland Ice Sheet and affects ice flow.
• Map subglacial water routes using satellite radar interferometry and time-evolve results.
• Apply machine learning to relate surface and bed processes to ice dynamics.
• Collaborate with GEUS, DTU Space and REGLA project team; co-supervise with DTU partners.
