Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites applications for a PhD candidate in fungal genomics. The project focuses on correlating genomes to phenotypes and developing online webservices for genomic characterization of fungi impacting animals, humans, and plants.

You will perform whole genome sequencing, develop a species identification tool, and analyze large phenotypic datasets with collaborators at DTU Food and DTU Bioengineering.

Formación

• Two-year master's degree (120 ECTS) or equivalent.
• Experience coding in Python and Unix-based systems.
• Knowledge of microbial genomics including phylogenetic analysis.
• Experience with DNA-based workload from microbes.
• Familiarity with machine and deep learning approaches.

Responsabilidades

• Create a webservice for identifying fungal taxa and toxin-gene clusters.
• Perform whole genome sequencing and analyses to improve reference genomes.
• Develop web-based tool for species identification and toxin-gene detection.
• Conduct genotype–phenotype association studies on Fusarium isolates.
• Present results at meetings and write reports/publications.
