Job summary

Aalborg University invites applications for a three-year PhD stipend starting October 1, in dynamic modelling, simulation and optimization of Power-to-X processes for renewable fuel production. The research spans process engineering and power grid interactions, with publications and international collaboration.

You will model power-to-X plants, analyze grid integration, and contribute to teaching or supervision as part of AAU Energy’s interdisciplinary environment in Denmark.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering, energy engineering, sustainable energy engineering or related field.
  • Solid foundation in process modelling, thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, process dynamics and control, optimization or energy-system analysis.
  • Experience with process-modelling tools (Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS) and programming languages (MATLAB, Python).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply physics-based models for Power-to-X plants under varying conditions.
  • Analyze interactions between Power-to-X processes and electrical grid for flexibility.
  • Publish results at conferences and prepare reports and theses.
  • Collaborate with academic and industrial partners across Europe.
