Job summary

AAU Energy at Aalborg University invites applications for a PhD researcher to model and control electrified industrial thermal systems using physics-informed AI and data-driven learning. You will work across thermal energy systems, machine learning, and optimization, developing reduced-order models and real-time control strategies, with access to industrial data and test cases.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree is required for PhD stipend allocation.
  • PhD stipend is for three years and the candidate must enroll as a PhD student.
  • English is widely used as the working language in research and teaching.
  • Applicants should have a clear drive to develop expertise and contribute at a high scientific level.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mathematical and physics-based models of complex thermal systems.
  • Create reduced-order representations for real-time optimization and control.
  • Combine physical models with data-driven learning to handle varying operating conditions.
  • Design control strategies for real-world constraints.
  • Publish work, present internationally, and build a research profile.
