Job summary

Bavarian Nordic A/S is seeking a Materials Science Manager to lead the Materials Science function within Site MSAT in Kvistgård. You will manage five technical specialists and scientists, guiding material stewardship across raw materials, in-process materials, and packaging throughout their lifecycle.

You will collaborate with Site and Global MSAT, Manufacturing, QA, QC, Procurement, and external suppliers to align specifications, standards and change controls, while ensuring quality governance

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a closely related scientific discipline.
• Substantial GMP-regulated pharmaceutical/biotech manufacturing experience with direct material responsibility.
• Experience leading and developing technical specialists or scientists, including performance management.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional alignment skills.
• English proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of five technical specialists and scientists.
• Own site-level technical stewardship of raw materials, in-process materials, and primary packaging.
• Provide strategic direction on specifications, standards, and supplier assessments.
• Drive risk-based, evidence-informed recommendations across cross-functional teams.
• Represent Materials Science in governance forums and escalate unresolved materials risks.

Education

Master’s degree in materials science, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biotechnology, chemical engineering
