Your Role

As Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating all mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development and design through manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.

You will act as the technical lead within the mechanical discipline, ensuring that solutions meet customer requirements, comply with relevant standards, and are delivered on time and with the expected level of quality.

Working closely with Project Managers, Electrical and Software Engineers, customers, suppliers, and external partners, you will help turn complex requirements into practical and reliable automation solutions.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Leading and coordinating mechanical engineering activities across projects
  • Developing and reviewing mechanical concepts, layouts, and detailed designs
  • Ensuring compliance with machinery directives, safety standards, and internal engineering guidelines
  • Managing and supporting internal engineers and external engineering resources
  • Conducting design reviews, technical evaluations, and risk assessments
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring within the Mechanical Engineering team
  • Supporting procurement activities through technical specifications and supplier evaluations
  • Ensuring timely delivery of engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, calculations, and technical reports
  • Supporting manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities when required
Your Profile

You are an experienced mechanical engineer who combines strong technical expertise with natural leadership skills. You enjoy taking ownership, setting direction, and supporting colleagues while remaining hands‑on when needed. Proven ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously across different stages, from design and procurement through manufacturing and installation. You maintain a forward‑looking overview of priorities, dependencies and resource requirements, ensuring a balanced workload and early communication of potential capacity constraints or deadline impacts.

You are comfortable working in a project‑driven environment where priorities may change and where collaboration across disciplines and cultures is key to success.

We Imagine That You Have

You hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a related technical discipline and bring 7-10 years of experience within mechanical design and development of customer‑specific machinery or automation solutions. You have a proven track record as a Lead Engineer or technical lead on complex engineering projects and possess strong experience with 3D CAD systems such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar tools.

In addition, you have a solid understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, material selection, and tolerancing, combined with experience in stakeholder management and cross‑functional project collaboration. Knowledge of machine safety, CE marking, risk assessments, and relevant industry standards is expected. Finally, you are a strong communicator with excellent written and spoken English skills. Experience within material handling, intralogistics, automation systems, ERP/PLM systems, or delivery of machinery to the North American market will be considered an advantage.
