Job summary

Planday is seeking a Lead Engineer- Data to set the architectural direction of the data platform, ensuring reliable ingestion, modelling, and orchestration. You will work with Data, ML, Platform, and Product Engineering to enable trusted data for internal decisions and customer features.

You will design dbt models, semantic layers, and quality standards, and own Dagster orchestration and new data sources. A strong background in Snowflake, dbt, SQL, Python, and cloud infra is required.

Qualifications

• Deep Snowflake and dbt experience with modelling and semantic layers.
• Production experience with a data pipeline orchestrator (Dagster preferred).
• Cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS/GCP) and Kubernetes in production.
• Strong SQL and Python for data pipelines and automation.
• Software engineering discipline across CI/CD and testing.
• Ability to translate technical trade-offs into clear stakeholder narratives.
• Experience operating data systems with cost and privacy considerations.

Responsibilities

• Set architectural direction of the data platform for analytics, product, and AI/ML.
• Design dbt models, semantic layers, and data quality standards.
• Own orchestration and observability, onboarding new sources at scale.
• Innovate with AI-enabled analytics and self-serve tooling.
• Build scalable, real-time and historical data foundations.
• Improve modelling standards, tooling, and dev environments.
• Maintain reliable, performant, cost-effective, and compliant platform.
