Job summary

Caljan in Denmark is seeking a Lead Automation R&D Engineer to own the automation design direction and drive complex development from concept through release. You will shape software architecture and ensure technical excellence across product lifecycles.

You'll lead standardization across software platforms, collaborate with international teams, and advance robotics, AI, and industrial software architectures for diverse product lines.

Qualifications

• A degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.
• Experience with automation systems and industrial software development is essential.
• Strong knowledge of PLC platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell, ABB, or similar.
• Experience using electrical design tools such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, PCSCHEMATIC, or equivalents.
• A structured, analytical approach to problem-solving and excellent collaboration skills in an international setting.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop software architecture for current and future products.
• Lead technical alignment and standardization of software platforms across Caljan.
• Drive automation and software development activities for customer solutions and R&D projects.
• Support sales teams with technical expertise, solution design, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with international engineering teams to create modular, reusable automation solutions.
• Participate in robotics, computer vision, AI, and automation innovation initiatives.
• Oversee software testing, machine testing, and product certifications.
• Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues, field technicians, and internal stakeholders.
