Aarhus University invites applications for an Academic Employee position within laser technology and optoelectronics at the Department of Physics and Astronomy. The role focuses on laser-based research, development of optoelectronic components, and setting up new laser systems for experiments.

The successful candidate will operate and service CW laser systems, develop electro-optical setups, and contribute to experimental control systems using ARTIQ.

Qualifications

  • Experience in laser-based research and in developing electronics and optoelectronics components for laser experiments.
  • Ability to set up new laser systems and learn new techniques.
  • Solid background in operating CW laser systems including control of output powers, polarization states, linewidths and frequencies.
  • Understanding of analogue and digital electronics for experimental control.
  • Background in laser frequency stabilization using optical frequency combs, rubidium atomic clocks, and GPS synchronization.
  • Master’s degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, or a related field; PhD is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Run and maintain optical frequency combs.
  • Service existing CW laser systems (external cavity diode lasers, TiSa-lasers, fiber-lasers, QCLs).
  • Develop (electro-)optical setups for controlling frequency and shaping power of CW lasers.
  • Assist in setting up experimental control systems with ARTIQ platform.
  • Develop electronics in collaboration with the department's electronic workshop.
  • Support with technical aspects in proposal writing.
