Job summary

DTU BRIGHT is a prominent research unit at DTU focused on sustainable food innovation and microbial foods. The Lab Manager will support three research groups by ensuring safety, organization, and reproducibility in a shared laboratory setting.

You will oversee fungal strain collections, equipment maintenance, and compliance with institutional standards while coordinating lab logistics and resources to enable high-quality research across interdisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety inductions and lab tours for students and staff
• Lead onboarding activities and introduce Benchling, Fusion, and internal procedures
• Coordinate cross-group lab logistics and shared resources across floors
• Manage reordering of shared consumables (tip boxes, media components, etc.)
• Organise lab duties, cleaning schedules, and shared responsibilities
• Oversee maintenance and calibration services for equipment
• Implement LEAF activities and ensure compliance across labs
• Maintain structured fungal and bacterial strain collections and storage
• Organise freezer space and storage systems for traceable use
• Coordinate allocation of lab space with group leaders
• Ensure Benchling documentation and data management plans are up to date
• Support onboarding and offboarding with proper documentation of strains and materials
