Job summary

WPP Open Intelligence is expanding its data engineering team to build scalable, privacy-conscious data products. The Junior Data Engineer will contribute to developing reliable data pipelines, learning from experienced engineers, and collaborating with product managers, analysts, and data scientists.

You will work in a hybrid setup with the team across EMEA/APAC regions, gaining exposure to large-scale data processing and edge services that power classification workloads.

Qualifications

• Early‑career experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, software development with a data focus, or related internship/graduate role.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Scala for data processing tasks.
• Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, algorithms, and data structures.
• Familiarity with Git, testing, CI/CD workflows; willingness to develop further.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) or strong interest to learn.
• Clear communication and collaborative mindset; curiosity about data quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and review data pipelines and code with team guidance.
• Collaborate with product managers, analysts, data scientists to implement features.
• Maintain data quality checks, docs, and governance basics.
• Investigate pipeline failures and data inconsistencies; contribute fixes.
• Learn data platform, tooling, and codebase through hands-on development.
