Job summary

Hitachi Energy Denmark A/S seeks a Country HSE Specialist to support Danish projects in the Nordic OU. You will drive HSE documentation, risk management, and continuous improvement across lifecycle stages, interfacing with project teams, customers and contractors.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, ISO 45001/14001 awareness, and fluency in English and Danish. Flexible within Middelfart or Ballerup, with on-site work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience of HSE tasks in projects.
  • Professional HSE certification is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable of ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 certifications.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to operate within global teams.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Danish.

Responsibilities

  • Improve and implement the HSE management system for the Nordic OU in Denmark.
  • Prepare and update HSE documents; submit plans by tender dates.
  • Attend customer meetings (in person or remote).
  • Prepare the Project HSE Plan and related docs.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and internal HSE requirements.
  • Produce and attend reviews and reporting of HSE performance.
  • Review subcontractor HSE documentation to meet requirements.

We are looking for a Country HSE Specialist to join our HSE Team in Middlefart or Ballerup. In this role, you will support our Danish projects in the Nordic Operation Unit (OU) and focus on the HSE tasks in the HSE department and throughout the project’s life cycle. You will be ensuring that the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance are documented, monitored and maintained. You will also be driving continuous improvement in all areas of HSE.

The PGGI Nordic OU HSE Team is a network of experienced health, safety and environmental professionals supporting the delivery of complex construction, energy and industrial projects across Finland, Sweden and Denmark.

We support highly skilled site teams in delivering world-class projects through professionalism, quality and operational excellence, creating environments where safety is the natural outcome of doing the job right. How you’ll make an impact
  • Implement and work with continuous improvement of Hitachi Energy operating unit management system and local requirements in Denmark for the operating unit of the Nordic OU
  • Prepare and update HSE documentation in accordance with the internal process. Submit all preliminary HSE plans to the customer in accordance with the tender submission dates.
  • Attend clarification meetings and workshops with the customer (both in person and remotely).
  • Prepare the Project HSE Plan as well as other HSE-related documentation such as the Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan.
  • Ensure activities under the scope of Hitachi Energy are in compliance with legal and contractual HSE requirements as well as internal HSE requirements.
  • Produce reports for Project Reviews, both internal and Customer, and attend the Project Review meetings to ensure the Hitachi Energy HSE Operating System remains suitable, adequate, and effective.
  • Review HSE documentation from all Hitachi Energy subcontractors and support subcontractors to meet internal and Project HSE requirements.
Your background
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Previous experience of HSE tasks in projects
  • Professional HSE certification is seen as a plus
  • Knowledgeable of ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 certifications
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to operate within global teams
  • Self-driven and persistent attitude towards challenges. You work actively and professionally both independently and as a part of a team.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Danish
