Job summary

CORI Hornbæk Hotel is seeking a commercially minded Head of Finance to build a strong financial foundation and translate insight into confident decisions. You will balance rigorous financial governance with a hands-on, collaborative approach to shape a high-performing hotel from the start.

You will lead day-to-day finance, reporting, budgeting, and controls, partnering with the GM and department heads to drive data-driven commercial choices and long-term profitability.

Qualifications

• Senior finance leadership in hospitality or service-led environments.
• Degree in finance, accounting, business administration or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, controls, tax and audit processes.
• Able to turn complex financial data into clear recommendations for non-finance colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, reporting, cash flow, payables and receivables.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements per Danish GAAP and group rules.
• Lead budgets, forecasts, variance analyses and management reporting.
• Partner with General Manager and department heads to drive data-driven decisions.
• Develop financial models and insights on performance, pricing, investments, revenue opportunities, and cost management.
• Identify risks and opportunities and advise on profitability improvement.
• Ensure compliance with Danish tax law, regulations, audits and group policies.
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy.
• Oversee annual audits and liaison with auditors, tax authorities, banks and suppliers.
• Collaborate with People & Culture on payroll, benefits, and workforce planning.
• Mentor and develop the finance team with integrity and continuous improvement.
• Drive finance system improvements, automation, and digital transformation.

You will combine rigorous financial stewardship with a collaborative, hands‑on approach and help shape a high‑performing hotel from the beginning.

About the role

The Head of Finance leads the hotel’s finance and administration function and is responsible for accurate reporting, robust controls, effective planning, and sound financial governance. You will oversee day‑to‑day financial operations while serving as a trusted business partner to the General Manager and department leaders.

Working closely with the IHA finance team and external partners, you will translate financial data into clear commercial insight. Your work will support sustainable growth, operational excellence, and informed decision‑making across the hotel.

Your key responsibilities

You will play a key role in shaping the financial foundation of the hotel by:

• Leading day‑to‑day financial operations, including accounting, reporting, cash flow, accounts payable and receivable
• Preparing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Danish GAAP and relevant group requirements
• Leading budgets, forecasts, variance analyses, and management reporting for internal stakeholders and the corporate office
• Partnering with the General Manager and department heads to support data‑driven operational and commercial decisions
• Developing financial models and insights relating to hotel performance, pricing, investments, revenue opportunities, and cost management
• Identifying financial risks and opportunities and recommending actions to strengthen profitability and long‑term performance
• Ensuring compliance with Danish tax legislation, financial regulations, audit requirements, and group policies
• Maintaining strong internal controls that safeguard assets, ensure accuracy, and prevent financial irregularities
• Managing annual audits and liaising with auditors, tax authorities, banks, suppliers, and corporate finance partners
• Collaborating closely with People & Culture and Operations on payroll, benefits, workforce planning, and labour cost control
• Leading, mentoring, and developing the finance team with a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Optimising financial systems and workflows and supporting automation and digital transformation initiatives

You bring

You understand that strong financial leadership creates the clarity and confidence that allow outstanding hospitality to flourish.

You are likely to:

• Have solid experience in a senior finance role, ideally within hospitality, hotels, or another service‑led environment
• Hold a relevant degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a comparable professional qualification
• Bring strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, controls, tax, and audit processes
• Combine strategic and commercial thinking with a willingness to work hands‑on in the detail
• Turn complex financial information into clear recommendations for non‑finance colleagues
• Be an engaging leader who develops people and builds trusted relationships across departments
• Have experience with hotel or finance systems such as Opera, SunSystems, or comparable PMS and ERP platforms
• Work with accuracy, integrity, sound judgement, and a strong sense of ownership
• Be fluent in English; Danish or another Scandinavian language is a strong advantage
