Job summary

ABENA, a global company with headquarters in Denmark, is seeking a commercially driven Global Category Manager to lead the Waste Management category. You will take end-to-end global responsibility, develop a young team, and strengthen collaboration across markets, sourcing, and sales.

You will work closely with the Head of Procurement and lead the category towards profitable growth, price optimization, and strategic supplier development in a fast-moving, international setting.

Qualifications

• Experience leading international teams in category management, procurement, or product ownership.
• Strong leadership with track record of developing people and teams.
• Structured, strategic thinker with ability to create momentum in building foundations.
• Commercial mindset focused on ownership, performance, and profitability.
• Excellent communication across functions and markets in English and Danish.

Responsibilities

• Lead the global Waste Management category with clear commercial direction, growth, margin improvement and performance.
• Coach and develop a team of five colleagues, creating direction, structure and engagement.
• Build capabilities and ways of working in a young team to improve maturity and performance.
• Drive sourcing and supplier strategies, including price negotiations and risk mitigation in plastics and related materials.
• Harmonize global assortment aligned with customer needs and market opportunities, supporting subsidiaries with pricing and positioning.
• Collaborate with sourcing, suppliers, subsidiaries, and sales across markets to strengthen cross-functional alignment.
