Job summary

The LEGO Group in Denmark seeks a strategic and influential leader to head Sustainable Materials & Standards, shaping the materials transition across resin, electronics and textiles while balancing environmental, technical, and business needs.

You will lead a small team, define policies and standards, drive cross-functional alignment, and represent LEGO in external forums. Reporting to the CSO, you will sit in the Sustainability leadership team.

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience within sustainability, materials and strategy.
• Proven expertise in strategy development and execution, balancing ambition with commercial and operational considerations.
• Strong understanding of sustainable materials with technical depth to discuss feedstocks, recycling technologies, certification systems and chain of custody.
• Demonstrated success influencing and aligning stakeholders across multiple functions and levels.
• Experience building external partnerships across industries and value chains.
• Excellent communication skills, with ability to simplify complex concepts and influence executives.
• Track record of developing high-performing teams in an inclusive, collaborative culture.

Responsibilities

• Develop and continuously evolve the LEGO Group's Sustainable Materials Strategy, defining ambitions, targets and pathways across resin short- to mid-term and other priority materials including electronics and textiles.
• Establish the strategic direction and decision principles for sustainable materials, balancing environmental impact, technical feasibility, commercial realities and scalability.
• Own key materials-related policies, standards and positions, including feedstocks, recycling technologies, mass balance approaches, chain of custody, certification requirements and credible sustainability claims.
• Translate emerging scientific, technical, regulatory and market developments into clear recommendations and actionable choices for senior decision-makers.
• Build strong external networks and partnerships across industry, value chains and relevant initiatives to accelerate progress and gain outside-in perspectives.
• Lead, inspire and develop a small high-performing team of strategy and materials specialists.
• Drive cross-functional alignment across Sustainability, Operations, Product, Procurement, Commercial, Government & Public Affairs and other key functions.
• Represent the LEGO Group in senior external forums and discussions relating to sustainable materials and industry standards.
