Job summary

Aalborg Energie Technik A/S is seeking an experienced Finance Team Lead to head the local Finance Department in Aalborg, Denmark. The role covers accounting, month-end closings, controlling, banking, and funding responsibilities.

You will lead day-to-day financial operations, coordinate with auditors and tax advisors, and drive process improvements while ensuring accurate reporting and governance across Danish GAAP and Group standards.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in a senior finance role.

• Fluent in English and Danish.
• Experience with Danish GAAP and Group reporting standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close in line with Danish statutory requirements and Group accounting policies.
• Handle accounts payable/receivable, invoice processing, payment runs, and vendor/customer reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT returns, Intrastat filings, and other statutory reports, and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in alignment with Danish GAAP and Group reporting standards.
• Assist with payroll accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis, and liaise with auditors, banks, tax advisors, and statutory bodies as needed.
• Drive process improvements and internal controls, and collaborate with project execution, procurement, and sales teams on cost tracking.
• Monitor project financials- tracking costs, budgets, and milestones against plan, and provide regular status updates, invoicing support, and profitability tracking to project managers and management.

About the position

We're looking for an experienced Finance Team Lead to head our local Finance Department.

As the highest-ranking finance professional on-site, you'll take full ownership of local financial execution- accounting, month-end closings, and controlling, banking, corporate funding.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close in line with Danish statutory requirements and Group accounting policies
• Handle accounts payable/receivable, invoice processing, payment runs, and vendor/customer reconciliations
• Prepare VAT returns, Intrastat filings, and other statutory reports, and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in alignment with Danish GAAP and Group reporting standards

What We're Looking For

• Several years of experience in a senior finance role (Financial Controller, Chief Accountant, or Finance Manager)
• Proven or emerging leadership skills, with a talent for mentoring and developing a team
• Solid grasp of accounting principles, financial controlling, and reporting standards
• Comfortable balancing local operational needs with Group Finance expectations
• Strong ERP, financial systems, and Excel skills
• Fluent in English and Danish
• A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a strong sense of ownership
