Job summary

Bifrost Studios is hiring a Finance Director to lead a CFO-as-a-service business serving Danish scale-ups and midmarket companies from its Copenhagen base.

You will work with the Managing Director for Denmark and the senior CFO team, owning policy, reporting, and the finance stack while shaping AI-enabled finance delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in Big Four audit with mid-market clients and at least 2 years in-house with final responsibility for accounting or finance.
• Experience as Head of Finance, Accounting Director, or similar in a growth-stage business.
• Strong technical judgment in Danish GAAP, and IFRS where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Own accounting policy and technical accounting across the company, from revenue recognition and accruals to reconciliations for every client.
• Establish best practices, standards and guidance for the CFO team, ensuring consistency across clients.
• Assist clients on complex problems that require senior accounting and finance expertise.
• Shape delivery models around bespoke projects with existing and new customers.
• Help define and deliver AI priorities in the finance function with AI at the centre.
• Support with client meetings, scoping, and pricing to win new clients with the Managing Director.

Bifrost Studios is hiring a Finance Director for a CFO-as-a-service business. The company runs the finance function for Danish scale-ups and midmarket businesses on a monthly subscription: a team of senior CFOs who handle reporting, the finance stack and board work for growth companies that are too early for a full finance department, with larger projects run alongside. It has built a reputation among founders and investors as the finance partner scale-ups trust, and it now serves scale-ups across Denmark. It is a frontrunner in AI automation of finance work, and that is a growing part of how the company works and what it sells. The model is proven, and the next phase is growth.

You will work directly with the Managing Director for Denmark, as his partner in running the business, and alongside the senior CFO team.

Tasks

As the Finance Director you will be ultimately responsible for the most complicated accounting and financial matters in the company. You will be part of the company leadership, working closely with the Managing Director.

What you'll do

• Own accounting policy and technical accounting across the company, from revenue recognition and accruals to reconciliations, for every client the team supports
• Establish best practices, standards and guidance for the CFO team, so complex questions are handled consistently across clients
• Personally assist clients on the toughest problems that require senior accounting and finance expertise
• Shape bespoke delivery models around one-off projects with existing and new customers
• Help define and deliver the company's AI priorities, so the team works and advises with AI at the centre
• Win new clients together with the Managing Director: support with client meetings, scoping, pricing

Requirements

• At least 4 years in Big Four audit with mid-market clients, plus at least 2 years in-house with final responsibility for accounting or finance
• Experience as Head of Finance, Accounting Director, or similar in a growth stage business
• Strong technical judgment in Danish GAAP, and IFRS where it applies
• You have owned the month-end close, the reporting and the finance systems in-house, and improved them
• Commercial and comfortable in front of people: founders, boards, investors. You explain a technical issue in plain language and you enjoy the conversation
• Fundraising or due diligence experience is a strong plus, from either side of the table
• Fluent in Danish and English, and based in Greater Copenhagen
