Responsibilities

Description & Expectation

Quadsat is looking for an experienced Digital Signal Processing Engineer to join the RF team working on SpectraLoc, our defense product for detection, analysis, and geolocation of RF emitters.

This role will predominantly involve designing and implementing DSP algorithms for signal classification, interference detection, signal deinterleaving, and geo-localisation within Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems.

SpectraLoc combines RF sensing payloads, drone-based operations, mission control software, signal processing, geolocation algorithms, and operator-facing workflows into one integrated product. You will work closely with RF, software, embedded, FPGA, and product teams, with your primary focus being to develop and validate DSP algorithms that improve sensing performance, robustness, and product quality across defense use cases.

Your main responsibility will be to develop, validate, and mature DSP algorithms that improve the performance, robustness, and quality of Quadsat’s RF sensing and geolocation capabilities.

  • Design, prototype, and validate DSP algorithms for RF signal classification, interference detection, demodulation, signal analysis, and geo-localization within Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems.
  • Develop algorithm concepts, reference implementations, and validation tools in Python, MATLAB, or similar technical computing environments.
  • Work with recorded and live RF data to evaluate algorithm performance, identify limitations, and improve robustness under real-world conditions such as noise, interference, multipath, calibration errors, and synchronization effects.
  • Contribute to direction finding and RF sensing capabilities, including methods such as AoA, TDOA, interferometry, monopulse processing, beamforming, tracking, and related estimation techniques.
  • Define test methods, performance metrics, and acceptance criteria for DSP algorithms, including accuracy, sensitivity, stability, robustness, and failure modes.
  • Collaborate with software, embedded, FPGA, and RF engineers to support the transition of validated algorithms into product-ready implementations.
  • Provide technical leadership within DSP and RF sensing, helping raise the quality of Quadsat’s algorithm development, validation methodology, and overall sensing performance.
Knowledge & Skills

We envision that you have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Signal Processing, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, combined with strong practical experience in DSP development for RF, SDR, radar, electronic warfare, SATCOM, aerospace, telecom, or other advanced sensing systems.

More important than the exact degree is that you have hands‑on experience developing and validating DSP algorithms on real RF data.

In addition, you bring:

  • Strong practical experience with digital signal processing for RF and Software Defined Radio systems.
  • Proven ability to develop, prototype, and validate DSP algorithms in Python, MATLAB, or similar technical computing environments.
  • Experience working with real RF measurement data, including noisy or imperfect data from SDRs, radar, EW, SATCOM, telecom, or related systems.
  • Solid understanding of RF signal chains, including sampling, bandwidth, filtering, SNR, synchronization, phase, and calibration effects.
  • Experience with signal detection, classification, interference analysis, signal characterization, or geolocation-related signal processing.
  • Experience with direction finding or RF sensing techniques such as AoA, TDOA, interferometry, monopulse processing, beamforming, triangulation, tracking, or related estimation methods.
  • Ability to define validation methods, performance metrics, test cases, and acceptance criteria for DSP algorithms.
  • Familiarity with SDR platforms and practical deployment constraints such as real‑time processing, data throughput, latency, synchronization, and hardware limitations.
  • A proactive mindset, strong ownership, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with RF, software, embedded, FPGA, robotics, and product teams.

It would be highly advantageous if you also have experience with electronic warfare, radar development, SIGINT, RF surveillance, coherent multi-channel RF systems, C/C++ implementation, FPGA-based DSP, embedded DSP, fixed‑point processing, CUDA, VHDL, Verilog, calibration, or transitioning algorithms from prototype into operational products.

Our Dynamic Work Environment

Quadsat is at an exciting stage of our growth journey where you can make a meaningful impact with your work, and directly influence the development of advanced solutions. You will join a diverse team of innovative colleagues who are passionate about working with new technology development. Our work environment is characterised by a high degree of openness, a flat management structure, and a strong sense of community where we work closely together on tasks.

You will be part of a driven engineering team across software, RF, robotics, and product development, with opportunities for professional growth, increased responsibility, and close involvement in real product innovation. We value initiative, collaboration, high-quality engineering, and people who want their work to matter beyond the codebase.
