Medicine is still developed in a fragmented, slow and largely manual way. Biology has become programmable — but the way we develop therapeutics has not caught up.
BioLib exists to change that.
We are building the platform that turns biology into engineering, where computational methods, data and infrastructure come together to make drug development faster, more predictable and scalable. Our platform is already used by leading biotech and pharma companies, as well as top academic labs, to move from insight to execution.
The Role
We are looking for a Director of Scientific Solutions to find, shape and close the engagements that grow BioLib. You will identify the right opportunities in biotech and pharma, scope and structure them, build long-term customer relationships and bring deals home.
You will work with the CEO on commercial strategy, but this is a hands-on, Director-level individual contributor role with significant ownership and autonomy. You will personally drive opportunities from the first conversation through to a closed engagement — and grow the relationship from there.
There is no established playbook or team to execute through. You will decide where to focus, create momentum yourself and be accountable for the commercial outcomes you deliver.
Key Responsibilities
Finding & Closing Business
- Create new opportunities across biotech and pharma, from first conversation to signed contract
- Turn complex scientific and technical customer needs into well-scoped engagements that create real value and are deliverable by BioLib
- Own pricing, commercial terms and negotiations on your deals, together with the CEO
- Prioritize your time — focus on the deals worth pursuing and know which ones to walk away from
Customer Relationships
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with scientific and executive stakeholders
- Understand the customer's science and research challenges well enough to shape solutions that address their actual needs
- Stay close to customers after the deal is signed — make sure we deliver on what was promised and identify where the relationship can grow
- Represent BioLib at conferences and industry events, using them to build our presence in the scientific community and create new commercial opportunities
- Shape the commercial direction for BioLib, staying aligned with the CEO on key priorities
- Spot patterns across customer conversations and use them to shape what we build
- Turn what works into a commercial approach that can be repeated and scaled as BioLib grows
Who You Are
- You take initiative, make decisions and move things forward without waiting for direction
- You are persistent and comfortable putting yourself out there, even when the first approach does not work
- You have the scientific or technical depth to understand complex customer problems and engage credibly with biotech and pharma teams
- You bring structure to unclear problems and turn them into concrete solutions
- You communicate clearly and build trust across scientific, technical and executive teams
- Have worked in consulting or other technical customer-facing roles
- Have sold, grown or delivered complex engagements for biotech, pharma or life science research teams
- Have a scientific or technical background relevant to life sciences, drug discovery or R&D
We care more about ability, drive and judgment than years spent in a similar role.
Why Not BioLib
- The pace is high, and so are our expectations. You'll have room to learn but not to take a back seat
- There is little existing structure — you will have to build much of the process, pipeline and approach yourself
- You will have significant commercial responsibility from day one, and your success will ultimately be measured by the business you create
- Salary is competitive, but intentionally not market-leading — we prioritize long-term equity over maximizing cash compensation
- This is a hands-on role — you will spend your time creating and closing business yourself, not building or managing a commercial team
What We Offer
- Ownership of BioLib's commercial direction and growth
- Close exposure to the science and the people shaping modern drug development
- Competitive salary and significant equity
- A high-trust, high-performance environment with real autonomy
- The opportunity to work at the intersection of biology and technology
BioLib is an equal opportunity employer. We hire based on skill, judgment, and the ability to do excellent work.
