Job summary

The WHO Europe Division of Programme Management seeks a Director to lead Governance, Languages, Communications and External Relations, reporting to the Director Programme Management. The role oversees the regional governance bodies, strategic communications, language services and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Essential: Advanced university degree in public health, international relations, communications, social sciences or business management.
• Desirable: Training in public health related issues.
• Essential: 15+ years national/international senior management experience.
• Desirable: Experience in political or diplomatic arena.

Responsibilities

• Leads external relations, communications, publications, language services, and governing bodies.
• Provides high level policy, managerial and diplomatic advice to senior management.
• Promotes a culture of high performance and integrity in line with policies.
• Supports monitoring of GPG decisions and strategic directions of WHO's work in the Region.
• Builds partnerships for effective coordination across headquarters, regional, and country offices.
• Oversees rapid information flows with other regions and WHO HQ.
• coordinates the work of the technical secretariat for governing body meetings and senior meetings.
• Interacts with technical directors to implement policy decisions of governing bodies.
• Performs any other duties assigned by supervisors.
