Job summary

DSV is seeking a Dangerous Goods Compliance Manager to ensure global safety and proper handling of DG and HazMat across Road, Air, Sea, and operations. The role is based at HQ in Hedehusene with a small team and close collaboration with Legal and IT.

You will contribute to integrating standards post-merger with DB Schenker and support a worldwide network of DG competent persons through training and guidance.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience working with DG and HazMat in a multinational environment.
• Strong knowledge of international DG regulations, including IATA DGR, IMDG Code, ADR/RID.
• Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical guidance for operations.
• Experience delivering training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Advise colleagues worldwide on handling specific goods and knowledge-sharing across locations.
• Develop, update and deliver online training for DG Competent Persons and related roles.
• Collaborate with Legal to understand commercial and contractual impacts of new DG/HazMat policies.
• Work with Global IT and external suppliers to build optimal IT setup for DG/HazMat.
• Regularly update policies and use data to drive improvements and minimise risks.

Do you want to minimise workplace accidents and damage to property, while helping ensure that dangerous goods (DG) and hazardous materials (HazMat) are handled correctly at our nearly 3,000 locations worldwide?

The next, you’ll help shape our strategic decisions after the merger with DB Schenker, including integrating their restrictions and figuring out the optimal IT Setup,” says your new manager, Martin Guldhammer

Welcome to a small team with massive reach

When you join Group Quality, you will team up with three colleagues – including the senior manager. Team members are based at our HQ in Hedehusene, Germany and the Functional Lead, with whom you will collaborate closely, is based in Gothenburg.

Together, you own the global requirements for handling DG and HazMat for our Road, Air, Sea and operational divisions – impacting worldwide operations.

You create compliance operationally and strategically

You will join us right as we are building our knowledge around the world by enhancing the competencies of our global network of 150+ Dangerous Goods Competent Persons supporting local leadership. One of your main tasks will be to support this network continuously through regular training sessions and advice on specific cases.

Furthermore, you will contribute to our strategic decisions as we continue to integrate DB Schenker’s standards and IT setup, ensuring the strongest possible framework.

Some of your recurring tasks will be to:

• Advise colleagues worldwide on how to handle specific goods and assess the need for knowledge-sharing across locations
• Develop, continuously update and deliver role-based online training for our Dangerous Goods Competent Persons and other roles in DSV.
• Collaborate with our Legal department to understand the commercial and contractual consequences of new policies and procedures regarding DG and HazMat
• Collaborate with our Global IT function as well as external suppliers to create the best possible IT setup – and, in time, potentially take ownership of the applications yourself
• Continuously update our policies and use data to drive continuous improvements and minimise risks and accidents.

You have no problem seeking out the people and the knowledge you need to familiarise yourself with our business and ultimately create progress.

Moreover, we imagine that you:

• Have several years of experience working with DG and HazMat in a multinational environment
• Might be a freight forwarder or perhaps you have an academic degree – what matters is your knowledge of risk handling, DG and HazMat, so you know which questions to ask
• Have a strong knowledge of international DG regulations, including IATA DGR, IMDG Code, ADR, RID and/or other regional road/rail regulations
• Can translate requirements – including complex legal ones – into something tangible for the rest of our logistics business
• Might have delivered training before, but we are also happy to give you the opportunity to gain this experience

As we do not offer a relocation package, we are looking for a locally based candidate, but Danish is not a requirement.
