About the Role Configuration & Defect Manager contributes to Hitachi’s responsibility to design, manage interfaces, and prepare the documentation needed for installation, test and placing in service approvals. Its specific contribution is to maintain baselines, defect log, version control, release traceability and non-regression coordination.
Accountable for configuration baseline visibility and defect workflow integrity. Authorised to reject uncontrolled changes, require defect evidence and elevate aged/high-severity defects. Recommends release readiness but formal acceptance follows Project Governance.
Mandate Protect the Project from uncontrolled change and ensure defects are resolved with traceable evidence before acceptance.
Configuration and defect management experience in systems integration, rail, software, IT/OT or safety-related Projects. Strong knowledge of version control, release management, asset configuration and defect analytics. Ability to coordinate technical teams around evidence-based closure. Resilience and resistance to stress during defect peaks, release pressure and commissioning windows. Discipline, accuracy and strong escalation judgement. More than 5–7 years in configuration management, defect tools and release control.
