Job summary

Kapa.ai is seeking a research engineer to help improve our ability to answer increasingly challenging technical questions. You will work directly with the founding team and software engineers to push the boundaries of retrieval-augmented QA using LLMs and related technologies.

The role emphasizes staying current with ML/NLP advances, designing experiments, and contributing to benchmarks while operating in a distributed European setup with optional Copenhagen presence.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in CS, ML, math, statistics or related field.
• Deep understanding of machine learning, deep learning (including LLMs) and NLP.
• Hands-on experience in training, fine-tuning and deploying large language models.
• Experience working with vector databases, search indices, or other data stores for search and retrieval use cases.
• Significant experience building evaluation systems for LLMs or search.
• Familiarity with lexical search and dense vector search retrieval techniques.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where things are loosely defined.
• Interested in advancing ML research.
