Job summary

Gubra is seeking an AI Governance & Enablement Lead to shape and drive its enterprise AI agenda across Biotech, CRO, Group Functions and DDIT. You will define governance, enablement strategies, and an operating model that connects with data, platforms and security.

The role focuses on guiding AI adoption from exploration to scalable enterprise use, balancing speed with responsible governance and regulatory considerations.

Qualifications

• Experience across digital transformation, data & AI, product, innovation, technology strategy or enterprise change, with recent exposure to AI adoption.
• Practical understanding of Generative AI, large language models, assistants, agents and ML, and how these capabilities can create business value.
• Experience shaping opportunities with business and technology stakeholders and moving ideas from experimentation toward scalable adoption.
• Strong ability to translate emerging technologies into business implications, decisions and practical ways of working.
• Experience working across multiple functions and stakeholder groups, including senior leaders, technical teams and subject-matter experts.
• Strong change, adoption and communication skills, with the ability to build capability through others.
• Ability to balance innovation, speed, risk and governance pragmatically.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive Gubra’s enterprise AI governance and enablement strategy, framework and roadmap.
• Establish the operating model for AI across Gubra, including roles, decision rights, risk assessment, approvals, human oversight, and lifecycle governance.
• Partner with Biotech, CRO, Group Functions and DDIT to identify, qualify and prioritize high-value AI opportunities.
• Establish a clear pathway from AI exploration and experimentation to governed enterprise adoption.
• Define practical guardrails for Generative AI, assistants, agents, machine learning and emerging AI capabilities.
• Develop approaches for AI evaluation, testing, monitoring, traceability, and appropriate human oversight.
• Maintain visibility of Gubra’s AI landscape, including tools, providers, models, use cases, users, costs, dependencies, and areas of risk.
• Define governance expectations for citizen-developed, low-code and AI-enabled solutions, including when solutions should transition into professionally engineered enterprise products.
• Partner with Software & ML Engineering, Data Platform and Enterprise Architecture to ensure AI initiatives can connect appropriately with Gubra’s data, applications, knowledge, and technology platforms.
• Work with Legal, Quality, and Security to embed regulatory, privacy, security, and responsible AI requirements into practical ways of working.
• Drive AI literacy in general and compliance e.g. EU AI Act, responsible adoption across different user groups, from scientists and business users to developers and leaders.
• Help Product Managers and business teams define measurable outcomes for AI initiatives, including productivity, quality, scientific impact, decision support, or operational improvement.
• Continuously assess emerging AI capabilities and determine where they may create meaningful value for Gubra.

Job description

Gubra is looking for an AI Governance & Enablement Lead to build and drive our enterprise approach to AI adoption across Biotech, CRO, Group Functions and DDIT.

AI will be treated as a horizontal enterprise capability, with enablement as the primary objective and governance as the guardrail. This role will own Gubra’s enterprise AI agenda across opportunity shaping, adoption, standards and scale, while Product and Engineering teams remain accountable for solution delivery.

We believe the value of AI will come not from individual tools or models alone, but from how we combine AI with Gubra’s scientific expertise, data, processes and digital capabilities to improve how we discover, develop, and operate.

Given Gubra’s size, this is not about building a separate AI organisation. It is about creating focus, connecting the right capabilities, and helping Gubra move from fragmented experimentation toward disciplined, scalable, and measurable business value.

Required Experience

Preferred Experience

• Experience with AI governance, responsible AI, evaluation, monitoring or lifecycle management.
• Experience from biotech, pharma, life sciences or another research-intensive environment.
• Familiarity with modern cloud, software and data environments.
• Exposure to major AI ecosystems and providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft or comparable technologies.
• Experience in regulated, privacy-sensitive or IP-sensitive environments.
• Experience with AI vendor assessment, enterprise AI education, communities of practice, benchmarking or external partnerships.
