Job description

Board Intelligence is a technology and advisory firm on a mission to make boards more effective, and through them, build better businesses and benefit society.

Over twenty years we have established ourselves as the market leader in governance and board effectiveness, trusted by more than 80,000 directors, executives, and governance professionals globally, including across the Fortune 500, FTSE 100, and OMX 30. That trust has been earned through depth of insight, rigorous advisory work, and a track record that newer entrants simply cannot replicate.

We have invested in applied AI since 2020, well ahead of the market, and that early conviction has paid off. Our AI-powered platform and smart board advisor give us a competitive advantage that is widening, not narrowing. In 2024, K1 Investment Management, the leading B2B Enterprise SaaS investor, backed us to accelerate that position further. We are now growing fast, with a proven commercial model spanning both mid-market and enterprise, and a product suite that has become a necessary addition in high-stakes board environments.

The people joining us now will shape how we scale. We are deliberate about how we do that. Our founders and leadership team are deeply invested in keeping the culture that got us here: thoughtful, high calibre, and genuinely human. Ambition and balance are not in competition at Board Intelligence.

If you want to work at the intersection of AI and governance, on problems that matter at the highest level, this is a strong place to be.

Our Mission

We unleash the potential of organisations through the science of board effectiveness, building better businesses and benefitting society.

The Role

Juristic is a Danish legal tech company, founded in 2021 and headquartered in Copenhagen. Our platform brings four tools together on the same case data: Structure, Timeline, Flow and JuristIQ, our legal AI in chat and tabular formats.

Clients include PwC, Bird & Bird and Bech-Bruun. Juristic is now part of Board Intelligence, and we are bringing a new product to market. The work is led by our CTO, and we are looking for an AI Engineer to build it with them from the first line of code.

This is a zero-to-one role in a small team of four full-stack developers, a machine learning engineer and the CTO. You will write the code, sit in front of customers, and help decide what we build next.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design, build and ship the AI capabilities at the core of a new product, from first prototype to production
  • Own LLM-powered workflows end to end, such as document understanding, data extraction and agentic assistants
  • Choose and integrate models and providers, and own the prompting, retrieval, evaluation and guardrails that make AI output reliable enough for legal and governance work
  • Work directly with customers and the CTO to turn real problems into product decisions, and help own the product roadmap
  • Lay the engineering foundations for the new product, including architecture, testing, observability and deployment, so it can scale
  • Work with the wider Juristic and Board Intelligence engineering teams, and contribute to AI tooling shared across the suite
Person Specification

We are looking for a builder: an experienced AI engineer who has been a technical founder or an early employee at a startup, and who is ready to do it again.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • At least four years of professional software engineering experience
  • Experience as a technical founder or early employee at a startup, having built a product from the first line of code
  • A track record of building and shipping AI or LLM-powered products to real users
  • Practical experience with LLM APIs, prompt design, retrieval and evaluating model output in production
  • Strong engineering fundamentals across backend and frontend, with the judgement to move fast without leaving a mess behind
  • A strong product mindset: you have worked directly with customers and owned a product roadmap
  • Hungry, motivated and ready for another zero-to-one journey
  • Fluent written and spoken English
Nice to haves:
  • Experience with our stack: TypeScript (Node.js and React) and Python
  • Experience with document processing, such as PDF parsing and extraction from unstructured text
  • Experience building agentic systems, tool use or MCP integrations
  • Experience with search and retrieval infrastructure, such as Elasticsearch or vector databases
  • A background in legal tech, governance or B2B SaaS for professional users
What good looks like in this role:
  • After three months: you know our customers, the product vision and the codebase, and you have shipped AI features that real users rely on
  • After six months: the core AI capabilities of the new product are in production, backed by evaluations that show they are reliable, and you are acting on customer feedback
  • After twelve months: the product is in market with paying customers, you are a trusted voice on the roadmap, and the AI foundations you built are reused across the Juristic and Board Intelligence suite
Our Values

Our values aren’t just words on a wall. They capture our culture, and the behaviours we see and strive for every day.

  • Kindness & caring — We celebrate brilliance that comes without big egos or sharp elbows, and we win while raising each other up.
  • Curiosity & innovation — Entrepreneurship is in our blood. We’re inquisitive, challenge convention, think big, and move fast.
  • Remarkable quality & service — We take joy from delighting our clients and pride ourselves on ensuring every interaction is exceptional.
Diversity, equity and inclusion

Board Intelligence is committed to building a team that reflects the breadth of experience, background and perspective needed to do this work well. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation or any other protected characteristic.

If you need any reasonable adjustments at any stage of the process, please let us know and we will accommodate them.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
