Overview
We are seeking an experienced Suspension & Steering Engineer to join our Hardware Development team. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of suspension and steering systems from concept design through to series production, with a focus on system design, component engineering, and product integration. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, high-quality hardware solutions aligned with overall vehicle performance targets.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of suspension and steering hardware systems, from concept phase to series production
- Define system architecture, technical requirements, and component specifications
- Drive mechanical design, layout, and packaging of suspension and steering components
- Support kinematics & compliance (K&C) development from a hardware and system integration perspective
- Collaborate with CAE teams on structural, durability, and performance validation (e.g. strength, fatigue, NVH)
- Work closely with suppliers on component development, design release, and industrialization
- Support vehicle integration, issue analysis, and resolution during prototype and production phases
- Ensure design solutions meet targets in performance, cost, weight, quality, and manufacturability
- Contribute to continuous improvement of chassis hardware development processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
- Relevant experience in suspension and/or steering system development within the automotive industry
- Solid understanding of:
- Vehicle dynamics fundamentals (ride & handling) and their impact on hardware design
- Steering systems (e.g. EPS architecture, steering ratio, system characteristics)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Kinematics & Compliance (K&C) analysis
- Vehicle-level validation and performance evaluation
- Familiarity with CAE tools (e.g. Adams, CarMaker, CarSim) is a plus
- Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams
- Good communication skills in English; German is a plus
