Role: Data Scientist and Project Facilitator (VIE) with Airbus Helicopters

Location: Donauwörth, Germany

Start: As soon as possible – a start in 2025 is preferred
Duration: 24 months

Program: Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) – international program sponsored by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment to offer professionals valuable paid work experience abroad in a technical or business function. We are looking for highly motivated graduates aged 18 to 28 years, who are in the European Union (EU plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein).

Responsibilities
  • Support the business functions in their Artificial Intelligence projects.
  • Translate real-world problems into an appropriate quantitative context, source data, and develop models that solve these issues.
  • Combine statistics, machine learning, deep learning and computer science to reduce production costs, improve lead-time and quality of products and services.
  • Work on a wide range of use cases (e.g., predictive maintenance, forecasting, planning, NLP classification, image analysis, statistical process control, optimization) across various data types (tabular, time series, text, images, videos or sounds).
  • Facilitate the progress of projects and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure AI governance requirements are met.
  • Collaborate to industrialise, monitor, and improve data science models; deploy and operate models throughout their life-cycle with data owners, data engineers, and ML engineers.
  • Contribute to the end-to-end data science workflow and be part of the Data Science community.
  • Stay up to date with trends in science and leverage partnerships to use best-in-class technology. May deliver training and communications.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Educated to a degree in artificial intelligence, statistics, or applied mathematics.
  • Experience with Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques in Python.
  • Some ML Ops knowledge or experience.
  • Experience in data preparation/cleansing and data analysis.
  • Some knowledge of agile project management.
  • English fluent or negotiation level; German a plus.
  • Dynamic and curious, autonomous, customer-oriented, team player, rigorous, analytical and creative.

About the Team

The Digital Innovation (DI) team is part of the Company Transformation Department, bridging research and business. We work across Airbus Group with interfaces to manufacturing, quality, support, finance, engineering, human resources, and sales/marketing. We leverage Advanced Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality and IoT to solve Airbus business problems and improve products and services for helicopters and services.
