Zusammenfassung

UMH, an open-source industrial data management platform, seeks a hands-on technical lead to connect PLCs, sensors and data pipelines in real factories. You will consult customers on generating business value, shape the product from field learnings, and document scalable patterns for others to reuse.

You will also debug, optimize and automate data flows across MQTT, Kafka, Docker, Benthos and Grafana, while collaborating with Product Engineering on new features and deployments.

Qualifikationen

• Hands-on OT/IT systems experience with PLCs, sensors or industrial protocols.
• Ability to communicate clearly with customers and act as a trusted advisor.
• Translate messy customer problems into clean technical solutions in factories.
• Be the technical face of a product in high-velocity, high-accountability settings.
• Strong learning bias and self-reliance; able to build structure when missing.
• Fluency in German and English.

Seven years ago, we started a small system integration and boutique consulting company to help manufacturers digitize their production lines. We installed sensors on machines, built dashboards for production managers, and used AI to analyze product quality - all to improve efficiency, quality, and resource use.

So four years ago, we switched gears and founded United Manufacturing Hub, an open-source industrial data management platform that helps factories collect, structure, and share production data at scale.

Today, companies like HiPP, Velux,and EDEKA use UMH to connect their shop floors, and we're backed by a 1,000-people-strong community and international venture capital investors who share our belief that industrial data should be open.

• Work closely with the Product Engineering team to prototype new features, test deployments, and continuously improve the UMH stack.

YOUR PROFILE

• Hands-on experience with OT or IT systems - PLCs, sensors, message brokers, containerized applications, or industrial protocols. (Smart home environments count too!)
• The ability to communicate clearly with customers, build trust quickly, and act as a reliable technical advisor.
• You can translate messy customer problems into clean technical solutions - and you enjoy doing it in real factories, not just in slide decks.
• You’re comfortable being the technical face of a product - part engineer, part consultant, part teacher - who thrives in high-velocity, high-accountability environments.
• You have a strong bias for learning and self-reliance - you don’t need much structure, but you can build it when it’s missing.
• Fluency in German and English
