The European Central Bank is offering a traineeship in Frankfurt that focuses on macroprudential policy and financial regulation. You will contribute to policy analyses, support data-driven projects, and help prepare materials for publications and meetings.
Ideal candidates hold a master’s degree (or PhD progress) in a related field and have strong data/IT skills, English at C1, and a willingness to work across international teams.

You will be part of the Financial Regulation and Policy Division in the Directorate General Macroprudential Policy and Financial Stability. Our Directorate General has approximately 100 staff providing analysis and policy advice on issues relating to financial stability, the banking sector, non-bank financial intermediation, financial regulation and macroprudential policy.
In our Division, we analyse regulatory policy issues from a financial stability and financial integration perspective. We conduct impact analyses on regulatory policies and contribute to European and international discussions on regulatory and supervisory issues. We also contribute to the ECB’s work on banking regulation, non-bank financial intermediation, and capital market development and integration, as well as the structural transformation of the financial system stemming from the development of crypto-assets and stablecoins.
In your role as a trainee or PhD trainee, you will be part of a team of approximately 25 members of staff responsible for policy-relevant analysis and coordination of the ECB’s views on regulatory issues. You will work closely with our experts, contributing to projects that are relevant to our Division.

Initial traineeship/PhD traineeship of between three and six months, with a possible extension to up to 12 months in total. The earliest starting date will be January 2027 and additional dates will be available throughout 2027.
