Jobbeschreibung

Job Description Summary

The energy grid of tomorrow is being designed today — and the proposals you write help determine what gets built. As a Tender Engineering Specialist – High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) & Alternating Current (AC) Systems at GE Vernova, you sit at the intersection of technical depth and commercial impact. You translate complex customer requirements into competitive, technically sound proposals for some of the most significant power transmission projects in Central Europe. Your work shapes what GE Vernova bids, what it wins, and ultimately what it delivers to the grid.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

You work closely with tender leaders, project engineering teams, product lines, sourcing, and commercial stakeholders to develop optimal technical solutions. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Proposal Development: Prepare and review technical proposals for HVDC converter station projects — covering Control & Protection, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), telecommunications, auxiliary systems — while also contributing to AC Substation (Air-Insulated Switchgear/Gas-Insulated Switchgear — AIS/GIS) tender activities across Central Europe.
  • Technical Scoping & Risk Definition: Analyze customer specifications, define engineering scope, deliverables, interfaces, assumptions, and technical risks, and support technical risk reviews and tender gate reviews to ensure proposals are commercially competitive and execution-ready.
  • Equipment & Documentation: Define all equipment and documents required to meet customer requirements — including control and protection cubicles, auxiliary service systems (Low Voltage/Medium Voltage — LV/MV switchgear, auxiliary transformers, DC/UPS systems, diesel generators), and cabling — and establish technical specifications for equipment sourced from internal partners and external suppliers as the basis for Requests for Quotation (RFQ).
  • Customer Engagement & Handover: Participate in customer meetings and technical clarification discussions as required, and prepare and execute handovers to execution departments when applicable.

What You'll Bring:

You are technically grounded in power transmission systems, comfortable working across functions and time zones, and ready to contribute from day one on complex, high-stakes proposals.

Required

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable technical discipline (Bachelor's or Master's) — a formal degree is advantageous, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements
  • Proven experience in power transmission, substations, HVDC, Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), or renewable grid integration projects
  • Working knowledge of secondary engineering systems, including control and protection, SCADA and communications, auxiliary AC/DC systems, and interface management
  • Experience in technical proposal development, project engineering, and system design, with knowledge of electrical installations including control and protection systems, LV systems, and digital and conventional control architectures
  • Familiarity with different telecom interfaces across relevant technologies
  • Proficiency in relevant IT tools and secondary design realization software
  • Fluent English, written and spoken

Preferred

  • Relevant experience specifically on HVDC projects
  • Knowledge of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards and transmission utility requirements
  • Experience with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Engineering Base, or equivalent platforms
  • Professional-level German language skills
