Job summary

Exyte seeks an experienced engineering leader to guide an I&C / Automation team in designing and implementing Building Automation and Security systems for complex industrial projects. You will lead technically and disciplinarily across all project phases to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.

You will design BAS/BMS for HVAC, plus safety and security systems (FAS, VAS, PA/ELA, access control, CCTV), coordinate with clients, and prepare planning documents, calculations and specifications

Qualifications

• Degree or technician qualification in Building Automation or related field is required.
• Leadership experience in an engineering environment with disciplinary responsibility is required.
• Several years of design, implementation and commissioning experience in building automation and security systems is required.
• Solid knowledge of HVAC applications and experience managing technical projects is required.
• Strong knowledge of codes, standards, guidelines and technical regulations is required.
• Fluent German and excellent English communication skills are required.
• Structured, self-driven and solution-oriented working style with strong teamwork is required.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally for project work is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and disciplinary leadership for the I&C / Automation Engineering team.
• Lead the design and engineering of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Building Management Systems (BMS) for complex HVAC systems.
• Design and engineering of safety and security systems (FAS, VAS, PA/ELA, access control, CCTV).
• Coordinate across all project phases to meet cost, quality and schedule targets.
• Prepare planning documentation, calculations and specifications for all HOAI phases.
• Develop and evaluate system concepts, layouts and routing concepts per ISO standards and energy efficiency goals.
• Coordinate and manage subcontractors in BAS and safety/security fields; ensure EHS compliance.
• Support on-site implementation, commissioning, project meetings and acceptance procedures.

In this role, you will provide both technical and disciplinary leadership to an engineering team while taking responsibility for the design and implementation of sophisticated building automation and security system solutions for complex industrial and infrastructure projects.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

• Provide technical and disciplinary leadership while driving the continuous development of a team within the I&C / Automation Engineering department


• In addition to your leadership responsibilities, lead the design and engineering of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Building Management Systems (BMS) for complex HVAC systems (Cost Group 480), including control, regulation, and monitoring systems


• Design and engineering of safety and security systems (cost group 450), including fire alarm systems (FAS), voice alarm systems (VAS), public address systems (PA/ELA), access control, and CCTV systems


• Interdisciplinary coordination across all project phases, from design through execution, ensuring compliance with cost, quality, and schedule targets


• Technical coordination with clients and preparation of planning documentation, calculations, and specifications across all HOAI service phases


• Development and evaluation of system concepts and layouts, including flow diagrams, system sizing, component specifications, routing concepts, and site/layout plans in accordance with DIN EN ISO 16484 and with consideration of building energy efficiency


• Coordination and management of subcontractors in the field of building automation and safety/security systems, including compliance with EHS requirements


• Support of on-site implementation, commissioning activities, participation in project meetings, and acceptance procedures

Show your expertise

• Successfully completed a degree or technician qualification in Building Automation, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a comparable discipline


• Proven leadership experience in an engineering environment, ideally including disciplinary management responsibility


• Several years of experience in the design, implementation, and commissioning of building automation and security systems


• Sound knowledge of HVAC applications and experience managing technical projectsSolid understanding of relevant codes, standards, guidelines, and technical regulations


• Fluent German and excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken


• Structured, self-driven, and solution-oriented working style combined with strong teamwork and communication skills


• Willingness to undertake project-related travel and temporary assignments nationally and internationally
