Purpose of the Position
To maintain and repair all electrical, HVAC and mechanical plant machinery and equipment, according to planned maintenance modules and ad-hoc machine breakdowns, in order to support production efficiencies.
Key Job Outputs
- Perform weekly and monthly inspections on machines, equipment factory infrastructure
- Service machine as prescribed by the PM (Preventative Maintenance) modules and Service manual
- Test run machine and equipment before handover to Production Operators to ensure full functionality.
- Provide feedback on Preventative Maintenance Schedules (PMS)
- Gather information from relevant Operators on possible causes of machine malfunction
- Perform accurate fault finding on machinery using information gathered from Operators and machine manual
- Identify and analyse root cause on breakdown of machinery
- Repair, replace parts or report to GM where needed
- Recommend new ideas on possible machine breakdown prevention
- Maintain and repair all chillers and freezer rooms (FREON & ammonia cooled) and report to Service Provider where necessary
- Maintain and repair the boilers
- Maintain the FMM infrastructure as needed or as identified through planned audits/ inspections
- Carry out new project/equipment installations within expected time frames when assigned.
- Communicate material/service availability and pending shortages to all relevant Project stakeholders
- Perform on-the-job training to Machine Operators on start-up procedures and machine day-to-day basic machine maintenance
- Complete attendance registers and on the job training form when training and submit it to Manager Production.
- Advise Operators on how to correctly operate the machines to avoid damages
- Switch off and lock out machines before any maintenance/ repair are done.
- Always adhere to safety policies and safe work procedures.
Minimum Qualification & Experience Requirement
- Grade 12 Certificate Recognised qualifications as a
- Electrician (N3) Qualification with a Trade Certificate in Electrical/HVAC
- 2 years’ trade practical experience
