Job summary

Maple Aviation seeks a hands-on Technician / Electrician / Fluggerätemechaniker to join our operations team in Ottobrunn. You will build, wire, assemble, inspect, repair, and test drone prototypes and maintain the operational drone fleet.

You will work with mechanical, electronics, flight control, and operations teams to turn engineering designs into reliable flying hardware, with a focus on practical work, clean craftsmanship, and problem solving.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship or technical education in Fluggerätemechaniker, Elektroniker, Mechatroniker, Industriemechaniker, aircraft mechanic, automotive technician, model aircraft builder, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience in aircraft, drones, robotics, automotive, electronics, or precision assembly.
  • Strong skills in electrical assembly, soldering, crimping, wiring, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
  • Careful, structured, and quality-oriented working style.
  • Experience with LiPo batteries, RC systems, drones, model aircraft, avionics, or embedded electronics is a strong plus.
  • Basic experience with test equipment such as multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, or battery chargers is desirable.
  • Willingness to support outdoor flight testing and hands-on prototype work.
  • You are self-motivated, reliable, practical, and proud of clean technical work.
  • We are an international team communicating in English; German language skills are an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Assembly, wiring, integration, and maintenance of drone prototypes and pre-series aircraft.
  • Installation of motors, servos, batteries, wiring harnesses, sensors, avionics, payload interfaces, and mechanical subsystems.
  • Soldering, crimping, connector assembly, cable routing, electrical testing, and fault finding.
  • Mechanical assembly of composite, 3D-printed, machined, and lightweight structural components.
  • Execution of bench tests, functional checks, pre-flight inspections, and post-flight inspections.
  • Support of flight tests, including preparation, repair, documentation, and troubleshooting of UAS systems.
  • Identification and documentation of assembly issues, non-conformities, and improvement ideas.
  • Support in building jigs, fixtures, test rigs, and simple production equipment.
  • Maintenance of workshop tools, spare parts, batteries, and prototype documentation.
  • Collaboration with engineering to improve build quality, serviceability, reliability, and manufacturability.

The Role

We are an innovative aerospace startup seeking a hands-on Technician / Electrician / Fluggerätemechaniker to join our operations team. At Maple Aviation we develop a unique Tail-Sitter Drone that flies with one propeller only and is controlled in position via a flap-thrust-vectoring system.In this role, you will build, wire, assemble, inspect, repair, and test our drone prototypes and maintain the operational drone fleet. You will work closely with our mechanical, electronics, flight control, and operations teams to turn engineering designs into reliable flying hardware. You should enjoy practical work, clean craftsmanship, problem solving, and the challenge of building something new that has not existed before.

What you'll do
