Job Description
As Maintenance Team Lead at Mars you will be responsible for leading a team of 15-20 associates in preventive maintenance activities to ensure optimal factory performance. You will drive strategic initiatives, manage small investment projects and contribute to long-term asset planning. This role combines people leadership, functional expertise and strategic thinking to continuously improve safety, quality and efficiency across the technical organization.
What are we looking for
- Proven experience in leading technical teams within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of maintenance strategies TPM safety management and project management
- Solid understanding of and exposure to Engineering Technology (e.g. mechanical electrotechnical area)
- Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills
- Fluent in English and German (written and spoken)
What will be your key responsibilities
Leadership
- Line management of a maintenance team of 15-20 associates including workforce planning, training, performance evaluation and personal development
- Build a high-performing and engaged team through coaching, individual development plans and targeted initiatives to improve safety, quality and performance
- Act as a role model in operational processes, lead functional meetings and support root cause analyses
- Communicate clearly and transparently about initiatives within the factory and the broader business
Functional Leadership
- Lead and develop the preventive maintenance team (technicians, planners and stockroom operators) to implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to maximize factory performance and output while optimizing cost
- Drive daily, weekly and periodic performance reviews to ensure efficiency and target achievement
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations (e.g. UVV Mars Health & Safety Standards) and lead safety programs (e.g. LOTO, technical risk assessments)
- Coordinate external contractors and ensure adherence to legal safety and quality standards
- Independently manage small investment projects including full documentation and handover to production and maintenance
- Support the implementation of larger projects and take ownership of specific project areas
- Co-manage the maintenance budget and contribute to the development of a long-term asset investment program
- Represent the site in regional maintenance leadership networks
- Ensure auditing and compliance with legal and Mars-specific requirements within the technical department
- Act together with the other Maintenance Team Lead as the point of escalation during evenings and weekends when required
- Cover for the technical manager when needed
Strategic Maintenance
- Actively contribute to the maintenance strategy as a member of the Site Technical Leadership Team
- Collaborate with leadership peers to improve asset performance and drive strategic investment planning
- Lead the development of the technical organization through the implementation of the TPM program
