Systems & Applications Engineer (ADAS/AI)
Location: Munich, Germany
Contract: 12‑month freelance
Overview: Lead the design and optimisation of embedded systems for next‑generation ADAS and Autonomous Driving features. The role requires expertise in real‑time sensor processing (Radar, Camera, LiDAR) and developing robust, C++‑based AI/Robotics solutions for the automotive sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise algorithms for ADAS features, sensor calibration, and radar‑based AI.
- Implement and debug real‑time software in C++ and Python for embedded platforms.
- Use ROS/ROS2 to build scalable robotics software stacks.
- Integrate and interface with sensors (Radar, LiDAR, Cameras, IMUs) for data fusion.
- Develop real‑time networking solutions between ECUs and sensors (Ethernet, CAN).
- Collaborate with teams to integrate software with hardware platforms.
- Perform in‑depth debugging, performance profiling, and root‑cause analysis on embedded systems.
- Contribute to code reviews and architecture discussions.
Core Technical Skills (Must‑Haves)
- Embedded and real‑time software (C++/Python)
- ROS/ROS2 robotics middleware
- Applied AI in sensor solutions (Radar, LiDAR, IMU, Camera)
- Automotive networking protocols (Ethernet, CAN)
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years professional experience in embedded software, robotics, or automotive systems.
- Strong degree (BSc/MSc) in Robotics, Computer Science, or related field.
- Familiarity with automotive networking protocols and debugging tools.
- In‑depth knowledge of Radar, LiDAR, IMU, and Camera processing.
- Experience with sensor calibration, synchronisation, and fusion.
- Strong debugging, profiling, and performance optimisation skills.
