Jobbeschreibung
Overview

At the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, we may not be developing swords to fight the dark side of the force, but our developments often sound like science fiction. That’s because we design technologies and processes for the future of digital production, packaging and scanner technology, and many other laser-based applications, such as 3D printing and laser fusion. Are you looking for an exciting job as a student assistant (m/f/d) that will change the future? Then become part of our #OneTeam.

In the 3D Surface Structuring team, we work on scaling ultra-short pulse laser processes. To this end, we develop system concepts, build them and carry out experiments for customers. You will be part of our team of four research assistants and eleven student assistants and learn hands-on project management, system design and scientific work.

What you will do
  • You will be trained in process and plant engineering for material processing using laser radiation
  • Your responsibilities will include planning and independently conducting experiments
  • You will develop and design new laser systems with us
  • In addition, you will assist us in evaluating, processing and documenting the results
What you bring to the table
  • You are studying mechanical engineering, physics or electrical engineering
  • You have acquired basic knowledge of CAD programmes during your studies
  • Knowledge of lasers and optics is an advantage, but not essential
  • You are known for your reliable and independent way of working
  • Experience in 3D printing, Arduino programming or similar projects is an advantage, but not a prerequisite
What you can expect

Team spirit: Creative and interdisciplinary working environment, highly motivated team of experts, flat hierarchies and a “you” culture.

Workplace: Excellent equipment in terms of machines and devices.

Co-design: Independent project management and room for innovative ideas in applied research.

Work-life balance: Benefit from flexible working hours on a basis of trust.

Development opportunities: With us, you have the opportunity for individual development through a wide range of further training opportunities.

Advantages: Opportunity to benefit from exciting corporate benefits.

Travel: Good transport connections, parking spaces directly in front of the institute, an e-charging station and a parking garage.

Prospects: The opportunity to write your thesis.

Remuneration is based on the general works agreement on the employment of temporary staff. The weekly working hours are between 12 and 20 hours and will be agreed individually during the interview. The position is initially limited to 12 months, but the aim is to offer longer-term employment alongside your studies.

We value and promote the diversity of our employees' skills and therefore welcome all applications – regardless of age, gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion, ideology, disability, sexual orientation and identity. Severely disabled persons will be given preference if equally qualified. Our tasks are varied and adaptable – for applicants with disabilities, we work together to find solutions that optimally promote their abilities. The same applies if they do not meet all profile requirements due to a disability.

Interested? Then we look forward to receiving your application and getting to know you! Did you know? We provide even more insights on our LinkedIn profile.
